~ INDULGENCE - A VERY GOOD THING ~
Hi there dear Stitchers:) Have been having great fun following your bloggies and making mental notes of all your wonderfully creative finishes. Hope you all have found some precious time to relax and stitch to your heart's content. After all, a day without the needle isn't really meant to be, is it?
Over the weekend I visited one of my most fav places, a gorgeous specialty shop called The Liberty Cottage in Canandaigua. Here's a peek of Suzanne's lovely shop~her wall of hand dyed wools, specialty fabrics of better quality, fibers and hand crafted folk art gifties are sublime and divine. Suzanne is a skilled needle and fiber worker, friend, tutor and generously welcomes one and all anytime to her large work table for an open stitch/punch/hook/whatever, you gotta love that! All this while running her shop, she's a real sweetie.
I slobbered and drooled over her luxurious silk even weaves and am thinking perhaps a wee Prairie Schooler tree would be lovely on silk. This silk from India is quite dear at almost $30./yard, the two below are a drab mustard and khaki drab green, wish they replicated better on screen. Plz wish me good luck with this first time project on silk~LOL:)
A little freebie finish from The Stitcherhood, Fiddlers 18 ct., GAST 7041 Apple Cider. My friend Olde Dame Penniwig thought maybe a dirty mustard floss, but in the end this color won my vote, more because of the time of the year and I just loved the name of it:) It's such a quick stitch though, I just might *borrow* The Olde Dame's mustardy color choice for the next one:)
Until next time, Sweet Stitchin....

~ WINDY WILLOWS FINISH ~
Hi there! Brrrrr.... it's downright nasty cold here, Sunday morning and it's 37 degrees, but thankfully no snow for us yet. Hope you've all had some stitchy time this weekend.
This pinkeep was stitched in June and shall dwell in our home. A girl can never have too many pinkeeps, makes life a little easier. Might you also have a pinkeep in most every room for sticking or grabbing a needle or safety pin?
Windy Willows (Japanese blog) freebie design, Fiddler's 18 ct, Flosses: WDW Cocoa, HDF Old Maid of the Hive and Crescent Colours Black Coffee, filled with crushed walnut shells. I chose the drab colors for that prim look I so adore:)

Thx for looking and Sweet Stitchin to each of you...

~ STITCHIN SQUASH SOUP ~
Hi there dear friends!
What in the world is Stitchin Squash Soup you ask? Nothing special, and certainly NOT what it sounds like, just a quiet day for a finish-finish, a squash tale and homemade soup:)
Today is a beautiful, sunny, blustery autumnal Sunday of 45 degrees in the NYS Finger Lakes Region. When DH said some soup would be nice, I thought yes, maybe it would! So the pot is simmering and I snapped some pics to share with you all.
La D Da's freebie Alphabet with Hare Sampler, thanks to Lori Markovic for a great stitch. Finished as a wee pillow, 18 ct. Fiddlers front and back, Threadworx 1043, DMC 869 and 3830, stitch count 89 x 89. Was intended as a little extra wedding gift but alas, the little brown hare liked it here so much, he never did leave. You know how that is:)
A couple of days ago I paid a visit to Hardy's Farm Market a few doors down. When Mrs. Hardy heard I hoped for a couple bushels of spaghetti squash, she gave me a banana box and said to fill it for $10.00 ~ WOW, quite a savings! My last count was 14 biggish squash! In store this would have been about a $30.00 purchase. So far, I've baked these for cleaning/bagging and sending to the freezer for the winter months. Mind you, I've about 10 more to do ~ LOL! Oh to have an old fashioned root cellar to squirrel away all those Autumnal goodies from the garden...
Several years ago my dear MIL banished my silly fear of making soup. Am so very glad she did cause this chicky soup is the result of my reckless abandon ~ LOL. It all started with the leftovers from a store bought rotisserie chicken. We really like kale in our soup, that's the green stuff, mmmmmmmmm....
Sincere thx to each and every dear friend for taking the time to visit our little piece of the world, your warm kinship means so much, as do your treasured comments:)
There's DH at the door now, he'll be cold and need some warming. Have a lovely day and Sweet Stitchin...

~ Gmail Phishing ~
Hi there! Since most of us are using Gmail for blogging, I wanted to share that my Gmail account has recently rec'd a couple email requests asking me to verify my account and provide my account data, including my password.
This is *phishing* and can lead to a heap of trouble. Never give anyone your password or account data, even if it looks legit. I always mark these email communications as spam and hit the delete key, you can too.

~ SUNFLOWER PINKEEP FOR A FRIEND ~
Hi there Dear Friends! I've missed you all soooo much, thank you for keeping in touch even though my posts have dwindled a bit over the last couple weeks. I'm still following my Reader daily, just not blogging as much.
This design was a freebie from my LNS which I adapted, kind of reminds me of my collecting passion, which is folk art, not sure why~but it does:) I forced myself to put my friend's initials on the back, to prevent the nasty temptation of keeping it all for myself ~ LOL. My friend who quilts and sews favors sunflowers and is having a birthday soon, hope she likes this token from a friend.
In this pic, I thought this pinkeep was finished. But my DMIL's gentle words that *every finish no matter how small, should be as nice as possible* kept nagging at me, it was crying out for * something*. She of course was spot on, as usual.
I was quite satisfied with the front, after changing the date from 2008 to 2009.
Can you see the slight difference after adding the little heart and garland to the back, a little nicer touch don't you think? Worked on Fiddlers 18 ct., WDW threads, filled w/crushed walnut shells. Perhaps I'll add a jute hanger so my friend can decide how she want to use this.
Thanks for taking the time to pop in and Sweet Stitchin to you:)
