Freeware Tech Tip

Hi there sweet friends, been a while since I posted a tech tip.

Here's a free ~screen sharing~ app I've been using called JoinMe (for Windows), been around 10 years but it's newish to me.  You can remote access anothers computer screen from your very own comfy chair.  AND... with their permission, control their mouse... AND if desired, multiple users can join the *meeting*.  AND... it works both ways ~ when you need tech support, get someone you trust to help you via screen sharing.  All you need is your computers, a phone call and both of you running the app.  Yep, there's similar apps out there but this one is super user friendly, works well and appears to have zero nasty residual usage affects on my system, stable and reliable.

If you lend tech support to family/friends/loved ones/elders that live elsewhere, even out of state, you'll find this time saving tool very useful.  No more driving across town to find a missing toolbar or waiting for your college student to come home to do that tech thing you've been ignoring.  JoinMe is utilized on a per meeting basis, you control joining/un-joining at each *meeting*, so there's no risk of being left open-ended.  I've run several deep and thorough virus scans since installing this app and find absolutely zero compromises.


I know, sounds too good to be tru huh!  Well, it is true.  I'm using this app to assist my parent... from my cozy chair...  in the dead of winter... with my little floor heater warming my legs... instead of going out into the snow and freezing cold... and driving across town... just sayin!  Also sayin' this app absolutely will not help when a cable disconnects, but trips across town are fewer these days.

Oh, btw... have I mentioned it's free LOL?!

Not a paid endorsement, some things are just too good not to share with friends.  Even between stitchy friends, you might know someone who needs a little tech help now and again!

Your popup blocker may warn you about this app, it's ok... you're in control.  I skipped registering and skipped free trial option.  I simply clicked on the orange button to download the app, installed the exe file and had my parent do the same.  Then when my parent calls for puter help, we meet on screen.  We each enter the special code given so my parent can share their screen with me, then I request mouse control (remote access), parent allows ~ easy peasy.

2013 First Finish

Hey there friends, here's hoping everyone is finding a little precious time for their handwork this month!  I created this lightly stuffed pocket finish for Carol over at Stitching Dreams for her birthday, worked in her favorite colors of yellow & blue.  The pocket runs along the trim and is a nice size to hold scissors, tape measure, or any small accessory that Carol desires...  maybe even her secret stash cash LOL!  If you'd like to wish her a Happy Birthday you can Google Stitching Dreams, don't forget to feast on her dazzling ornie finishes too!  Blogger won't let me link to her blog.  This was my first pocket project, and I see more of them in my future!

ADIEU 2012

Greetings sweet friends on this Eve of our New Year!  I do hope everyone who celebrated their respective holidays enjoyed every day, in every way.  A heartfelt ~nice to meet ya~ to a couple new followers who found their way here, hope you enjoy stopping by now and again!  My heartfelt thanks to all who visited over the past year:)

A few snippets to share before we all scurry off into 2013...

Tech Stuff ~ Remember my old puter that dogged me to no end? Finally got a laptop, yipee!  I named her ZippyChippy. 

Pinterest ~ I've gone and lost my mind.  If anybody sees it plopping, wobbling and rolling around, it won't do anybody any good, just let it roll on by!  It goes like this... Where did I store that recipe?  That craft idea?  That fabby I wanna try?  That thing I absolutely m.u.s.t. have and probably can't afford anyway so why did I save it?  My recipe box?  Which recipe box?  The super special one?  The everyday one?  The wanna try this some day one?  The puter?  One of my Pinterest boards?  Wait!  Am I following them?  Or are they following me?  A sticky note?  Which room?  One of my blog pages?  Which page?  You get the idea - it's meltdown city here, too many places to absorb too much stuff!  I can't take it anymore, done lost my mind - and I'm not even 30 yet!  (Chuckle) ahem... clearly I've not lost my humor:)

Etsy ~  Does anyone else like these little soap mats for bar soap?  I was very pleased to meet a talented artisan to whip me up a couple for the house.  I truly could not be more pleased with the high quality of Terri's goods and her friendly personal service.  Thanks again Terri, love your handwork!

Stitchin ~ My 2012 finishes overflow in their basket, patiently awaiting assembling and prettiness.  But for now, perchance anyone remember my flaky finish from 2011?

Rather enjoyed it, so I stitched another for 2012.  See that wee little trim down there?  Found it while thrifting and thought of snowflakes.  Subtle and gentle tone on tone.  A dear stitchy friend grew up in the northeast, this ornie was my gift to her so that she might fondly recall a few dreamy Christmases she spent as a young girl...

It's Just My Way...

... I've been strong, a big shouldered broad, one that holds it all together, must carry on - no matter the face of adversity, plow through 'til all is right again, or nearly right enough.  It's just the way I'm wired, or the way I was raised, or grew up to be, or learned to be on my own.  Good or bad, it's just my way.

Disbelief-yes, heartfelt sorrow-yes, unanswered questions-yes... but no tears, no sobbing, no runny nose, no quivering lip, no shivers.  It's almost as if I was unable to succumb and admit that anyone could be so devoid of humanity.  Then tonight this sorrowful and respectful melody enveloped me.  With the exception of one or two small phrases, I envisioned parents and loved ones with eyes so weary and heavy they have no choice but to seek a few restful moments, drifting off with this tune softly cradling them, and the rest of the world dreaming along.  Mostly, we are lucky.  Days are good for most of us ~ with hopefully only a few days for sobbing.  I know in my heart we'll shed tears for Sandy Hook for many years to come.  But for our own hearts' sake, hopefully not every day.  We don't get to choose which days, today is mine... at least one of them.

Welcome Back Sweet Maple Leaf Friend...

Hi there sweet stitchers!  Ya'll remember Erynne from Be-Stitched and Red House Crafts?  I'll always remember Erynne being the very first stitcher to reach out to me when I started fumblin and bumblin with blogging ~ she was ever so kind, patient and gracious, a true lady through and through.  She's been missing from blogging, working on a special project. 

Lucky us, squeeeeeee ~ Erynne started a new blog this summer, she's got something definitely creepy going on and a precious finish to share!

Looking for ~older~ GAST floss ~ Gingersnap #7034

Hi sweet friends ~ hope everyone is getting in some stitchin this weekend:) 

I posted this over at the 123 board with hopes of a reply or two.

While visiting our LNS yesterday, I discovered the dye lot for one of my favorite go-to flosses has changed ~ well pooh, don't ya hate when that happens!

The ~older~ GAST Simply Shaker ~Gingersnap~ has a definite reddish/rosey cast to it, not the copper-brown shade currently on the shelf.

I'd appreciate trading/purchasing a few ~older~ skeins if anyone wants to de-stash theirs.

I've a nice selection of overdyed flosses to offer in trade.

Maybe I should also post this over at Never Enough Stash, plz wish me luck on my search!
